About me

Hi! My name is Keith Mangam. I am a 2008 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a double major in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science Engineering. I’m currently working as a Management Consultant in Manhattan and am loving Brooklyn. I have started this blog to document my application process to the Peace Corps with the hope to continue blogging if I am accepted to be a Volunteer. Hey! Congrats on the invatiation to serve! I am right now in the middle of the Medical Clearance fiasco. I’m nominated for Eastern Europe for Health Extention, which I’m hoping to twist and bend into Health Extension for children, but as we all know, that can change in a heartbeat.

I was creeping through your blog and saw that you came out in college. I am too dealing with the same thing. Not sure how I am going to go through this two year committment with the BF at home still in college. Albeit, I am very excited and am going to power through this process and hopefully will love every minute overseas.

Well, I thought I’d say hello. I’ve started a blog, but it’s private right now until I’m 100% sure that my departure is a-go – don’t want to give other’s false expectations, do I?

Anyways, hope you do well, and wouldn’t mind keeping in touch. We have to be on the lookout for other LGBT PCVs out there!

Best,
Kyle

Hi! Thanks for stopping by and for the congrats 🙂

Yes we definitely need to be on the lookout as I’m not sure how many of us there are out there. I would like to keep in touch too, so we can have a sounding board for our frustrations during service. Shoot me an e-mail or facebook me when you know exactly where/when you’re going.

Good luck on the rest of the application process – it’s not going to be easy, but it’s well worth it!!!!
