Application Timeline

As most applicants have done, I would like to share my application time line:

July 30, 2009 – Submitted Online Application

August 6, 2009 – Received initial packet including background check, fingerprinting, and other questionnaires. Also in this packet received three different programs that I might qualify for, all seem awesome!

week of August 27, 2009 – All of the initial forms sent back, including all three recommendations finally sent it 😛

September 2, 2009 – INTERVIEW at the Peace Corps office in the village

September 3, 2009 – Nominated to Business Advising Program in Francophone Africa, leaving July 2010

Late September – received medical/dental packet

October 28, 2009 – overnight Fed-Exed my medical/dental forms back to DC

October 30, 2009 – Dental Clearance

November 4, 2009 – Medical packet officially received by OMS

February 3, 2010 – Placed under medical review

February 3, 2010 – informed of required supplemental TB form

February 10, 2010 – received the supplemental forms

February 11, 2010 – faxed back my complete supplemental forms

February 13, 2010 – taken off medical review?

February 23, 2010 – back under medical review, phew!

February 26, 2010 – Told over the phone I was medically cleared!

May 8, 2010 -Made it through placement pre-screening: was told final review would take place in the next two weeks

May 10, 2010 – Received an e-mail that I could be considered for an earlier departure, am I available?

May 11, 2010 – Replied saying, “Sure! Consider me for any and all programs leaving June, July, and August!”

May 12, 2010 – Final Placement interview with my PO, after 20 minutes she says, “OK, that’s all I needed to talk about, I’m ready for the next step.  You will be receiving an invite in the mail for the program leaving at the end of June.” YAAAAAAY

May 17, 2010 – Received my official invitation packet and sent my e-mail saying I officially accept my invitation to serve in Burkina Faso as a Small Enterprise Development Volunteer!

May 18, 2010 – Mailed in my application for the No-Fee passport required for Peace Corps service along with my Visa applications.

Keith,
I’m nominated to the same program. Good luck with the rest of the medical clearances. I’ve been waiting forever on legal (why it’s taking so long, I have no idea), so I sympathize!
Happily, though, my recruiter told me the six week deadline is May 21st, so at least there’s that….

I was nominated for a program leaving in August so I’m glad to see that you’re medically cleared. It gives me hope that they might stumble onto my application and medically clear me too. =) Gotta love the hurry up and wait game! Patience is a virtue that I feel has been thrust upon me.

hahaha, I was randoml obsessing and found this. I just started a blog and will be adding content to it soon. it’s not ready though- so I won’t link to it just yet.
